One of the most famous boxers in the world, Manny Pacquiao is getting ready to promote his own digital currency at an up and coming blockchain event in Asia.

Pacquiao is set to be a special guest at the event according to the official website in order to promote his PAC token which is powered by the GCOX (Global Crypto Offering Exchange).

The event will take place from October 11th-12th in Manila in which the main topic is looking ahead of blockchain to see what the future holds for technology when blockchain is no longer cutting it.

The GCOX have dubbed themselves as the “world’s first platform that tokenizes popularity.” they also say that they aid celebrities to “create their personal crypto tokens and manage their ITS listing on the platform.”

Pacquiao was signed by GCOX earlier this year in March and he is the first celebrity for the company to release their celebrity token known as the PAC coin.

These tokens can be used to buy exclusive tickets, merchandise and other great services which can also be used to meet and talk to the celebrities themselves through live streaming events and meet and greets.

Pacquiao’s former rival, Floyd Mayweather also promoted a digital currency startup called Central Tech the popular musician DJ Khaled.

DJ Khaled isn’t the only musician to involved with crypto. We wrote an article earlier in the year about the rapper Akon and the release of his crypto, Akoin which claimed to be the official medium of exchange of his city called Akon Crypto City.

The Senegalese rapper and producer also said that he would be launching a digital currency to further the aid of the growth of Africa.

Former England footballer, Michael Owen is another investor aside from Pacquiao for GCOX. other investors include the Chairman of Heliconia Capital Management Lim How Teck and Tommie Goh the founder of JIT Holdings.

Some celebrities have had more success than others when it comes to getting involved with the digital currencies space.
