The organisers of The Next Titan reality TV show have urged Nigerian youths to be focused and relentless in the pursuit of entrepreneurial goals.

They said this recently during Season Five of the show held at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos.

The reality show, which was headlined by Heritage Bank, is aimed at giving young entrepreneurs an opportunity to display their creativity and talents.

Speaking during the event, the Managing Director, Heritage Bank, Dr Ifie Sekibo, said the level at which Nigeria’s population had grown over the past years had brought about higher unemployment rates.

“Despite the diverse resources available in the country, the unemployment rates seem to be increasing. Our population is growing and we are pouring out raw talents every day. Our youths need to uncap the oil wells and let their ideas flow,” he said.

Advising youths to hook up good mentors, Sekibo said a mentor should not only be a person that is physically present, but also any set of values that could make them to achieve your dreams.

He urged the contestants to always ask for more as anything given to them out of another person’s free would not be enough to take them far in life.

A Judge of the Next Titan, Mr Chris Parkes, highlighted the importance of the show, saying that the Season five would be inspirational and add value to the nation’s economy. He said, “We have raised the standards. It is not going to be easy as we want to make sure contestants are disciplined in their various areas. We would also ensure that the eventual winner of the show would be given the needed support to excel.”

The Chairman, Phillips Consultant, Mr Folusho Phillips, said that entrepreneurs needed three important qualities to be successful.

Also, present at the event was a representative of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mrs Yetunde Odejayi, who commended the organisers for coming up withvision for the show that was in line with the mission of the state in terms of entrepreneurship.

The event featured a surprising twist during the selection of the final contestants as two “wild cards” were presented to two lucky participants to makeup the final 18, as opposed to the usual 16 who participated in past editions of the show.

The organisers further noted that the season five edition would have a greater impact on the contestants than other seasons.
